Take the Floor @ Tate Liverpool
Last weekend, on the 10th January, a group of us from Wolstenholme Projects collaborated with Mellowtone to create a festival atmosphere inside the Fifth Floor exhibition at Tate Liverpool. The Tate are ticking their community boxes with this exhibition and have invited local studio and community groups to programe Saturdays in International Festival’s space.
After the scouse fashion show had finished (yes, pyjamas and boots did feature!), we started with a performance by PAC, then a 1940s style street party, with members of the public joining in (everyone loves a bit of free food).
Miss Willow set the tables dressed in black, perhaps mourning the end of the Capital of Culture?
Perhaps not… Sue Massey and I set to work on creating a cityscape in the space – especially relevant to Liverpool this year with its constant construction and some town planning issues. Who knew JML push-on push-off lights could be so much fun.
In the evening, post fireworks, bands played to a huge audience and we all sat baking and squished. Excellent stuff.
