{"id":1411,"date":"2015-07-27T11:27:30","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T10:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/?p=1411"},"modified":"2015-07-27T11:27:30","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T10:27:30","slug":"basic-principles-for-building-construction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/2015\/07\/27\/basic-principles-for-building-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"Basic Principles for Building Construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This will be a new work commissioned by <a title=\"Wewiora Projects\" href=\"http:\/\/wewioraprojects.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wewiora Projects<\/a> for <a title=\"NACB\" href=\"http:\/\/carbootymcr.tumblr.com\/TheNorthernArtCarbooty\" target=\"_blank\">Northern Art Car Booty<\/a>\u00a0and two performances of the piece will take place on Sunday 30th August 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Expanding on a costume piece made the previous year &#8211; a hybrid of clothing and architectural shapes &#8211; the work has been developed since as the first official collaboration between my twin sister\u00a0<a href=\"www.behance.net\/rutheaton\" target=\"_blank\">Ruth Eaton<\/a> and I (although she has been sewing various things behind the scenes for me over the last few years). Ruth is interested in workwear and the functionality of clothing.<\/p>\n<p>Using three performers and more complex forms, &#8216;Basic Principles for Building Construction&#8217; will depend on the tension between the three bodies to build and maintain a space; dress becomes wall, body becomes support and the walls finally collapse to become soft wrappings once more.
