A few exhibitions have gone up (and come down) in the meantime including<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grundyartgallery.com\/programme\/past\/2017\/141\/\" target=\"_blank\">(Re)learning to Read<\/a>, a group show curated by TORQUE at the Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk\/walker\/exhibitions\/arts-council-collection\/transparency\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Transparency<\/a>, an Arts Council collection show at Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool<br \/>\n<a title=\"Re construct\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ysp.co.uk\/exhibitions\/reconstruct-an-arts-council-collection-national-partners-exhibition\" target=\"_blank\">[Re]construc<\/a>t\u00a0at the Chapel at Yorkshire Sculpture Park<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1453\" alt=\"parade\" src=\"http:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade1-300x300.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade1.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>as part of the last exhibition, YSP commissioned a new piece of work (well, strictly speaking two, as the film in the exhibition is also newly commissioned by them). Last weekend a group of performers took a walk around the ground as part of <em>A Parade of Architectural Commas<\/em>. It&#8217;s always strange testing out a new piece in such a public way and there was lots to think ab<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #ff4b33; font-size: 16px;\" href=\"http:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/2017\/05\/29\/a-parade-of-architectural-commas\/parade1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1453\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>out and changes to make for the next outing as part of their 40th birthday celebrations on July 16th. The title comes from Capability Brown&#8217;s writing on the construction of a garden landscape and refers to the follies that traditionally inhabit a Georgian Garden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1455\" alt=\"parade\" src=\"http:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade3-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade3-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/emilyspeed.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/parade3.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here there are five archetypes: the grotto, the chapel, the ruin, the obelisk and the pyramid. I have been thinking a lot about the tease and reveal of this kind of landscape, with it&#8217;s carefully crafted views, but I am realising that erotic sensibility is all but impossible when a comedic pair of legs are introduced to a sculptural costume.
