Unfolding Architecture
ISBN: 1-893125-24-6 Women's Studio Workshop, New York StateScreen printing & letter pressing on balsa wood, paper and opalux, book cloth. Edition of 90
Unfolding Architecture is experienced through Gordon, a man who witnesses the city he lives in unfolding like paper. The unfolding of the buildings acts as a metaphor for the disappearance of a loved one through dementia, and the empty space that they leave behind. Unfolding Architecture is a screen-printed and letter-pressed accordion book. The book is housed in a handmade balsa wood box, which unfolds, mirroring the city in the story.
Edition of 90, Made during a residency at Women's Studio Workshop, New York State and supported with a grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and with additional support from The New York State Council on the Arts.
Unfolding Architecture can be bought from The WSW website and is priced at $200
