The Construction Workers
HD Film, 6minsThe Construction Workers was commissioned by Wirksworth Festival 2013, curated by Rose Lejeune.
A choreographed performance for film made with the Ripley Green Garters, a local all-female Morris troop, The Construction Workers was inspired by the community and restoration of Wirksworth. Costumes and props made especially for the work were exhibited together with the film. Alongside the tradition of Morris as a ritual and symbolic act, The Construction Workers takes inspiration from the tacit structures that exist within small communities, and the delicate balance required to keep things working harmoniously.
