A Curriculum: A one day exhibition

The A Curriculum artists-in-residence will hold a one-day exhibition to present work made in the two months spent at A Foundation, Liverpool. During their time on the residency the artists have attended a programme of talks, and received studio visits, by a number of artists and art professionals. Coming to the end of this period the artists would like to invite the public into their studios which will be returned to an exhibition space for the final day of their
residency.
I am in an exhibition at Rogue Project Space in Manchester, which opens this Thursday.

BUILT brings together 5 Female artists from across the UK whose practises deal with specific aspects of the built environment. Through the use of Sculpture, Installation, Animation and Performance the selected artists respond to the structures which surround our daily activity; be that personal shelters and social networks, or our more public man made surroundings that are compounded in the cities we live in. They search for a space in the parameters between art and these constructed locations, subtly commenting; “Women build stuff too”.

Cultural Contact Point (CCP) Austria are printing some postcards to illustrate best practice projects from the EU Culture Project 2007 – 2013 (across all art forms). They have chosen the Salzamt as one of their best practice projects and asked to use an image of Inhabitant on it. I’m very flattered and pleased.
Exhibition is done and I leave Linz tomorrow. Very sad to go, but I am coming back next year to launch my artists’ book so this makes it easier. Today I did my final bit of work (apart from cleaning and packing!) and walked around the city in the sculpture ‘Inhabitant’ that I made during my stay here. Some images below, the best bit was looking back through these and seeing the faces of people watching me. My arms hurt. Big huge thanks to Jens Sundheim, and Mehmet Dere for following me around with cameras!
On Tuesday night the last of two exhibitions I am in at the Salzamt will open. This shows work produced during my time here, although there are still things like the Grau/Gelb books that remain unfinished… they will be finished though!
Saw this piece by Willi Dorner (US based Choreographer) tonight on a random street in Linz. It was great, really exciting stuff and I wondered whether I’d had a premonition or something when I took the cardboard pictures in my studio!? (I admit mine are slightly less impressive in bending terms)
I have been having a great time in my studio – making shelters and life size versions of ‘Places for Hiding’ drawings (one of my artist’s books). The first group exhibition here at the Salzamt opened last week and the next will open in about three weeks.
Other interests: the Grottenbahn, Hitler’s unrealised plans for Linz and escapism mixed with ambition.
An exhibition opens here at the Salzamt on Friday 24th July. Most artists have bought work with them, but limited by Ryanair’s measly 15kg allowance and the fact that most of my work is squashable, I have nothing with me to show. This goes a long way to explaining the mess I have made in my studio frantically shredding cardboard and going through much paper as I make and reject drawings. Still it is good to be making lots and to be drawing so much. The space I will be using to show is a lovely little niche and images will follow of the show set up when I have settled on some suitable work. In the meantime, I also want to stress the joy and usefulness of having a 7ft pin board in your studio – fantastic stuff!
I am here, it is lovely and my studio is enormous. Just about settled in now so looking forward to really getting stuck in to some new work. My head is overflowing with ideas so I shall have to try and start somewhere, I find myself gravitating towards writing again. Seems like there is a lot to see here too so, excited about seeing some new artists and perhaps a different approach to showing work?
