A Foundation closure

It’s been announced that A Foundation in Liverpool is to close.

I’m really sad about this, not only did I have an incredible experience as part of the A Curriculum residency last year, but I am a big fan of their ambitious commissions, beautiful building and role in the Liverpool Biennial. It’s a significant loss for the city.

The Cooperative, Liverpool

From Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th September, I will be resident in the Cooperative space on Renshaw Street in Liverpool. I’ll be there from 1-5pm every day except Saturday, so please come and see me if you can! I’ll be working on my new publication, ‘Cardboard Folly’ and have invited various artists to come and work with me during the week so we’ll be scrawling things down, cutting, sticking and general plotting!

You can find the space here: http://www.thecooperative.info/

On Sunday afternoon there will be a discussion group around artists’ books and self-publishing from 2 – 4pm, accompanied by tea and cake of course. Everyone welcome!

Shows, books and the summer.

Just a reminder that the Liverpool Art Prize is only on for one more week, so do go and see it if you can – I’m not sure whether the work will be kept afterwards as it is just so big.

A few projects are being plotted at the moment, but I am currently busy finishing my year as bursary holder at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. I am making a limited edition book to mark the end of the year, so next week will be full of paper cuts and swear words.

The end of July and August are marked for the studio and some small projects, so looking forward to getting cracking on some new work.

A Curriculum closing party

A Curriculum: A one day exhibition
Saturday 1 May, 12 – 6pm
Private view: Friday 30 April, 6 – 9pm

The A Curriculum artists-in-residence will hold a one-day exhibition to present work made in the two months spent at A Foundation, Liverpool. During their time on the residency the artists have attended a programme of talks, and received studio visits, by a number of artists and art professionals. Coming to the end of this period the artists would like to invite the public into their studios which will be returned to an exhibition space for the final day of their
residency.

A Curriculum

Blade factory at A FoundationI’m excited to have been chosen to take part in A Curriculum, a new residency programme at A Foundation in Liverpool, during March – May 2010.

The residency is described thus:
“The programme will be scheduled over two months and will include input from visiting artists, curators, gallerists, collectors and commissioners. A Curriculum will give participants the chance to explore a broad range of perspectives which build a picture of the artist within the wider professional context.”

I will be starting a new body of work; working towards my first ever solo show at Yorkshire Sculpture Park early in 2011. Can’t wait to get stuck in.
